THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN US AND OUR SALAF - Shaykh Ali ar-Ramli
Shaykh Ali ar-Ramli حفظه الله The difference between us and our salaf is they gave preference to the hereafter over the worldly life, and therefore Allah gave them the worldly life and the hereafter. As for us we have given preference to the worldly life over the hereafter and it has become our main concern. And if (an affair from) the worldly life conflicts with the religion we give preference to the worldly life and say the religion is easy. O servant of Allah take from the worldly life what suffices you and aids you in your religion without overly increasing in it. And do not make it your main concern and focus, there after destroying you. Allah the Exalted the Most High warns us about the test of the life of this world
(يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُوا رَبَّكُمْ وَاخْشَوْا يَوْمًا لَا يَجْزِي وَالِدٌ عَنْ وَلَدِهِ وَلَا مَوْلُودٌ هُوَ جَازٍ عَنْ وَالِدِهِ شَيْئًا ۚ إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ ۖ فَلَا تَغُرَّنَّكُمُ الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا وَلَا يَغُرَّنَّكُمْ بِاللَّهِ الْغَرُورُ) [سورة لقمان 33] O mankind, fear your Lord and fear a Day when no father will avail his son, nor will a son avail his father at all. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth, so let not the worldly life delude you and be not deceived about Allah by the Deceiver.
And the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "The world is sweet and green (alluring); and verily, Allah is making you to succeed each other, generations after generations in it in order to see how you act. So beware of this worldly life and beware of women for indeed the first trial of the children of Israel were from women ". (Agreed upon) الفرق بيننا وبين سلفنا أنهم قدموا الآخرة على الدنيا فأعطاهم الله الدنيا والآخرة وأما نحن فقدمنا الدنيا على الآخرة وصارت شغلنا الشاغل. وإذا تعارضت الدنيا مع الدين قدمنا الدنيا وقلنا الدين يسر. يا عبد الله خذ من الدنيا ما يكفيك من غير توسع ويعينك على دينك . ولا تجعلها همك وشغلك فتهلك . قال تبارك وتعالى محذرا من فتنة الدنيا (يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُوا رَبَّكُمْ وَاخْشَوْا يَوْمًا لَا يَجْزِي وَالِدٌ عَنْ وَلَدِهِ وَلَا مَوْلُودٌ هُوَ جَازٍ عَنْ وَالِدِهِ شَيْئًا ۚ إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ ۖ فَلَا تَغُرَّنَّكُمُ الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا وَلَا يَغُرَّنَّكُمْ بِاللَّهِ الْغَرُورُ) [سورة لقمان 33] وقال النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّ الدُّنْيَا حُلْوَةٌ خَضِرَةٌ ، وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ مُسْتَخْلِفُكُمْ فِيهَا، فَيَنْظُرُ كَيْفَ تَعْمَلُونَ، فَاتَّقُوا الدُّنْيَا وَاتَّقُوا النِّسَاءَ، فَإِنَّ أَوَّلَ فِتْنَةِ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ كَانَتْ فِي النِّسَاءِ ". متفق عليه https://t.me/alramly الدين القيم Translated by Abu Anas Atif Hasan
